Learn to Train (or Track Attack 2) runs in two phases

  • In the early season up until 6 Dec, athletes participate in a dryland training program on Wednesdays and Sundays
  • After 6 Dec, athletes move to a winter training program on Saturdays and Tuesdays

The program will start-up on November 5th and run until March. Through November and December, L2T will take place Wednesday evenings (6:30pm to 7:30pm) and Sunday afternoons (1pm to 2pm) based out of Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School and will introduce youth to Nordic ski training practices. L2T practices will include an introduction to roller skiing, introduction to ski-specific exercises, skate and classic ski technique instruction, and health and fitness practices. At least two Kawartha Nordic coaches will be present to facilitate and lead each L2T session.

Then, beginning in January, L2T skiers will join the Saturday afternoon Track Attack program at the Kawartha Nordic trails while continuing with a weekly Tuesday session at a local Peterborough site such at Armour Hill, Nicholl's Oval, Lakefield College School, or Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School. This group will prepare to race at the Ontario Midget Championships in North Bay in February.

Parents will be contact in late October to confirm registration and receive more detailed training information.
