The Kawartha Nordic Racing Team offers training and racing experiences for athletes aged 9 through 22, led by certified and experienced Nordic Ski coaches.

Our race team program includes:

  • Regular training for those interested in skiing fast
  • Race experiences for those interested in trying or pursuing any level of racing
  • Fitness and skill development
  • Healthy, outdoor recreation
  • The social support of a team environment
  • Age-approriate practices in smaller groups that target the developmental stages of different athletes
  • A mixture of skiing, roller skiing, strength training, running, ski striding, and other conditioning methods
  • Personalized training plans (for experienced athletes) that includes workouts to be completed on their own

While athletes are encouraged to give racing a try at school, at our club, or around the province, there is no requirement to race.

Children 12 and younger who want to focus on improving their skiing skills and having fun on skis with only 1 lesson per week may consider youth programs.

Masters Training
 

ages 24 and older

Racing Rabbits

This group is for youth that want to ski fast, and is a good introduction for those considering the KN Race Team in future years. Skiers will learn both skate and classic technique.

For youth born 2012-2013

Rates do not include HST.

Prerequisites: Athletes must have sufficient fitness and experience with Nordic skiing to complete the practices with their group in a safe manner.

Additional Costs:

  • Kawartha Nordic Season Pass
  • Coach Support at select events ($25/night)
  • Ski waxing at select events ($15/pair)
  • Roller skis (to rent for $75/year or purchase)+
  • Kawartha Nordic Race Suits (to rent or purchase)+
