On February 26-27th Peterborough area skier, John Hauser and his support team from Wildrock, will be skiing for a 24hr period (noon to noon) to raise funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association Halliburton, Pineridge Mobile Mental Health and Addictions Clinic. The concept for the fundraiser is from John, Wildrock staff member and Kawartha Nordic board of director member, who lost a cousin to suicide during the pandemic and also personally felt the toll of the pandemic on his own health, as he believes many others have. After speaking with Jeff Cadence and Jack Vietcong at CMHA HKPR about the Mobile Mental Health and addictions clinic, John felt this was a project he would like to get behind.
John and his team will set up camp near the Sugar Shack at Kawartha Nordic. Feel free to stop by during your visit to the club and see how the marathon is going. No additional participants can join the ski, but perhaps there will be opportunity in 2023.
