On August 13th 2022 Kawartha Lakes Lightening hosted an Ultra Marathon and trail race on Kawartha Nordic Trails.

The chip timed, bibbed races offered were; 52km, 26km or a team relay where all 4 team members run the 13km course at the same time.

The race followed a 13km course that ran from Beaver to Fisher to Kenner, up Kenner to Trillium, up Trillium to Kawartha then down kawartha to the finish line by the trail head. 4 laps were run for the full Ultra Marathon.

Participants received a limited edition running hat sponsered by the Achilles Association, and Gunther Shubert made chili with fresh bread for them to enjoy upon completion of the race.

Funds from the race will go to Kawartha Nordic, Monarch Ultra and Kawartha Lakes Lightening and donations were also accepted to go towards the Peterborough Youth Shelter (Peterborough YES shelter)

With the success of this first time running event at Kawartha Nordic, we hope to continue to provide a venue for these races.
