This workshop is the second step in the NCCP progression. It provides essential training for coaches delivering an effective skill development program to children six to nine years of age (the FUNdamentals stage of skier development). It is designed to train coaches to teach children intermediate technical skills in an enjoyable way so that it is FUN to learn, to select games that reinforce the technical skills being taught, to design and lead on-snow sessions, and to select and prepare equipment for young children. Successful completion of the NCCP Introduction to Community Coaching Workshop is a prerequisite.

No problem, feel free to visit on your own schedule and send us an email to let us know what you've done so we can direct other volunteers.
What's involved? Simply hiking the trails, removing branches, sticks and large stones from the trail bed, and cutting back any branches that interfere with safe skiing from the side of the trail. If you come across any large fallen trees send us an email to let us know the location. Other jobs such as stacking firewood are needed at the Woodfine chalet. The woodshed at the Laderach cabin also needs some TLC.
A volunteer coordinator will be at the Woodfine Chalet at the beginning of the day and will leave instructions for those arriving later in the day

Canadian Ski Patrol Registration and Training begins in September
The Kawartha Nordic Ski Club Ski Patrol is in need of additional members to come to the club and ski our trails. The Kawartha Nordic Ski Patrol are members of the Canadian Ski Patrol, who have 4,000 + members across Canada. At one time we had more than 35 patrollers and while our club has grown significantly, the number of volunteer members of the Canadian Ski Patrol has shrunk.
The training you receive in First Aid and CPR and AED to Health Care Provider Level could help someone at our ski club but more likely will be used to help a member of your own family, a friend, classmate or a colleague.
