Youth Programs

Our Youth Skill Development Programs are Learn to Ski lessons for youth aged 4 through 14. Within each program we aim to address the needs of beginner and more experienced skiers, sometimes in separate groups.

Online Registration for KN Membership and these programs happen together, and typically opens each year in early October.

The youth programs are very popular and often fill up quickly, so we recommend you follow us on Twitter @KawarthaNordic or Facebook to be notified when registration opens. Members from the last 3 years will also receive an email notification when registration opens.

Youth programs are scheduled for Saturdays in January and February, some in the morning and some the afternoon. Be sure to check which session you are selecting when registering, and consult our KN calendar for the specific session dates.

Prerequisites:

  • Program participants require a Kawartha Nordic season pass
  • Program participants will require appropriate equipment for classic skiing (for Bunnyrabbits & Jackrabbits) or skate skiing (for Track Attack) — some equipment may be available to rent but sizing is limited & availability cannot be guaranteed

Since our new extended ages are to make room for older youth new to skiing, the 12–14 year-old Jackrabbits and Track Attack groups will be for beginners only – Jackrabbit skiers normally transition to the Track Attack program at 10 years of age.

Experienced youth skiers are encouraged to consider our Kawartha Nordic Racing Team or Leadership program.
