The Lantern Ski at Kawartha Nordic

There is something undeniably peaceful about the woods after dark. The world goes quiet, the snow sparkles under the moonlight, and the air feels just a little bit crisper. If you’re looking to trade your usual evening on the couch for a bit of winter magic, we have the perfect event for you.

Join us at Kawartha Nordic for an unforgettable Lantern Ski. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just looking for a unique date night, this is the best way to experience our trails in a whole new light.

The Experience

Forget the headlamp for a while. We’re lighting up a 2–3km loop with traditional lanterns, creating a soft, golden path through the pines.

  • Self-Guided: Move at your own pace, soak in the atmosphere.

  • The Vibe: Quiet, serene, and just the right amount of "winter wonderland."

Warm Up at the Sugar Shack

Make sure to stop at the Sugar Shack. We’ll have the fire going and the treats ready. It’s the perfect spot to:

  • Sip on a steaming cup of hot chocolate.

  • Roast a s’more over the open flame.

  • Share a laugh with fellow night-skiers.

What to Bring: Your skis (obviously!), warm layers, and your sense of adventure. While the lanterns guide the way, the woods are dark, so an extra layer of fleece never hurts!

Why You Shouldn't Miss It
Skiing by lantern light turns a familiar trail into a brand-new adventure. It’s the perfect way to embrace the Canadian winter rather than just enduring it. Plus, let’s be honest—everything tastes better when eaten by a campfire in the middle of a forest.
